About Seabird Skies
We are based out of Portland, OR.
The primary Pilot for our footage is Glenn Siegel, an FAA Part 107 Certified sUAS Pilot. He uses up to 3 different sUAS platforms to capture footage, primarily DJI drones – the Mavic Pro, the Phantom 3 Pro, and on occasion, when available, an Inspire 1. These drones shoot 4k quality photos and video, are very maneuverable, fairly compact, and easy to transport, prep, and launch.
Almost all the footage is captured using the Drones. All of the shoots present their own unique challenges, some more daunting than others. Weather is always a critical factor in the success of a shoot, or in the instability of some of the footage. Structures, whether man made or natural, will always have an effect on how the footage comes out, and exactly how challenging the completion of the project is. There are some Photos that are taken with digital based devices other than Drone, such as digital cameras, tablets, and phones, as opportunity presents itself, and time might not be available to capture the shot another way.
Music for the videos is provided by Twiddlespoon, a local musician and poet in the Portland area.
There are a number of volunteer staff that assist on shoots, and are usually credited in the videos. These folks are invaluable to ensure some of the more technical shoots are accomplished with minimal issues, or loss of equipment.
We have a Youtube Channel that most of the videos are posted on. You will find the videos embedded throughout the site.
